MY FILtered life, 2021

     Each layer is a representation of a piece from either my identity in America or Scotland. The structure follows that of a normal filtration system. Limestone represents that of the main rock Florida is made up of, followed by a mix of corn and barley for American Bourbon and Scotch Whisky’s prime ingredient. A collection of sand from a Florida beach mixed with coquina and sea glass collected with family. Documentation of family history from Scotland to America, coal and peat lines underneath, ending in a braid of family tartan and fabric with American flags showing the interlocking of both places.
